ISLAMABAD, Oct 23 (APP):The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a bearish trend on Thursday, losing 1,962.87 points, a negative change of 1.18 percent, closing at 164,590.41 points against 166,553.28 points on the previous trading day.
A total of 474 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 147 recorded gains, 291 sustained losses, and 36 remained unchanged.
The total trading volume was 1,504.58 million shares compared to 1,568.82 million shares on Wednesday, while the traded value decreased to Rs49.52 billion from Rs55.06 billion. The market capitalization also declined to Rs18.99 trillion from Rs19.21 trillion.
WorldCall Telecom led the volume chart with 162.20 million shares, followed by K-Electric Ltd. with 138.24 million shares and Telecard Limited with 90.64 million shares.
Among the top gainers were Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited, which increased by Rs218.07 to close at Rs9,680.91, and Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited, which gained Rs188.26 to close at Rs29,888.26.
The major losers were PIA Holding Company LimitedB, which decreased by Rs998.70 to close at Rs25,000.10, and Supernet Technologies Limited, which declined by Rs91.02 to close at Rs1,589.40.
In the futures market, 312 companies participated, with 77 advancing, 233 declining, and two remaining unchanged.
K-Electric (OCT) led the futures volume with 43.53 million shares, followed by Bank of Punjab (OCTB) with 35.47 million shares and WorldCall Telecom (OCT) with 35.08 million shares.
