PSX sheds 1,588 points to close at 187,033 points

ISLAMABAD, Jan 21 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday turned around to bearish trend, losing 1,588.52 points, a decline of 0.84 percent, to settle at 187,033.27 points compared to 188,621.78 points on the previous trading day, according to PSX data.
During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 1,325.597 million shares with a traded value of Rs 69.583 billion, against 1,225.807 million shares valuing Rs 63.898 billion in the previous session. Market capitalization declined to Rs 21.134 trillion from Rs 21.305 trillion a day earlier.
Out of 488 active companies in the ready market, 118 advanced, 331 declined, while 39 remained unchanged.
K-Electric Limited topped the volume chart with 263.237 million shares, followed by Hascol Petroleum with 100.763 million shares and Fauji Foods Limited with 74.973 million shares.
The top gainers included PIA Holding Company Limited (B), which rose by Rs 301.17 to close at Rs 21,267.50, and Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited, which increased by Rs 100.16 to settle at Rs 28,224.00.
On the losing side, Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited declined by Rs 119.40 to close at Rs 9,900.60, while Khyber Textile Mills Limited fell by Rs 81.05 to close at Rs 1,717.95.
In the futures market, turnover stood at 257.227 million shares with a traded value of Rs 15.113 billion, compared to 234.020 million shares worth Rs 16.606 billion in the previous session.
Out of 316 futures-market companies, 69 recorded gains, while 247 declined and none remained unchanged.
