PSX loses 1,579 points to close at 166,174

ISLAMABAD, Oct 7 (APP):The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed bearish trend on Tuesday, as the benchmark KSE-100 index lost 1,578.66 points, showing a negative change of 0.94 percent, closing at 166,173.75 points against 167,752.41 points on the previous trading day.
A total of 1,266,227,891 shares were traded during the day compared to 1,274,364,327 shares on the previous session, whereas the share value stood at Rs54.22 billion against Rs60.54 billion previously.
As many as 487 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, out of which 183 recorded gains, 267 sustained losses, whereas 37 remained unchanged.
The three top-trading companies were Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) with 180,608,050 shares at Rs31.14 per share, Bank of Punjab with 134,742,790 shares at Rs35.08 per share, and Cnergyico PK Limited with 90,723,995 shares at Rs8.76 per share.
Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited witnessed a maximum increase of Rs653.17 per share, closing at Rs29,950.89, followed by Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited which rose by Rs128.50 to close at Rs9,901.67.
On the other hand, PIA Holding Company Limited-B recorded a maximum decrease of Rs674.83 per share to close at Rs24,775.17, followed by Ismail Industries Limited which declined by Rs60.70 to close at Rs2,074.68.
In the futures market, a total of 318 companies transacted shares, out of which 94 recorded gains, 220 sustained losses, and four remained unchanged.
A volume of 239,032,000 shares was traded with a value of Rs11.53 billion. Bank of Punjab (BOP-OCTB) remained the most active with 34,787,500 shares at Rs35.45 per share.
POL-NOVB registered the highest gain of Rs13.67 to close at Rs710.00, while Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SAZEW-OCTB) recorded the maximum decrease of Rs32.64 to close at Rs1,931.82.
