PSX extends rally, gains over 1,761 points

The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) maintained its bullish momentum on Thursday, gaining 1,761.66 points, a positive change of 0.98 percent, to close at 181,776.60 points against 180,014.93 points recorded in the previous trading session.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 6 (APP): The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) maintained its bullish momentum on Thursday, gaining 1,761.66 points, a positive change of 0.98 percent, to close at 181,776.60 points against 180,014.93 points recorded in the previous trading session.
The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 793.353 million shares, compared to 740.559 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value increased to Rs40.313 billion from Rs35.907 billion. Market capitalisation also climbed to Rs20.264 trillion from Rs20.090 trillion recorded a day earlier.
Out of 495 companies that traded in the ready market, 283 posted gains, 180 suffered losses, while 32 remained unchanged, reflecting the continuation of positive sentiment at the bourse.
Bank of Punjab led the volume chart with 66.024 million shares, followed by Unity Foods Limited with 62.508 million shares and Cnergyico PK with 56.219 million shares.
Among the top gainers in the ready market, Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited advanced by Rs176.72 to close at Rs9,470.53, while J.K. Spinning Mills Limited gained Rs22.84 to settle at Rs264.94.
On the losing side, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited declined by Rs89.00 to close at Rs25,211.00, while Ismail Industries Limited fell by Rs13.34 to Rs1,902.06.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 189.928 million shares with a traded value of Rs9.405 billion, compared with 232.397 million shares worth Rs9.337 billion in the previous session.
Of the 305 companies traded in the futures market, 257 advanced, 45 declined and three remained unchanged.
