ISLAMABAD, Dec 19 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday closed bearish, losing 556.16 points, a negative change of 0.32 percent, to settle at 171,404.49 points compared to 171,960.65 points on the previous trading day, according to PSX data.
During the session, the ready market witnessed a trading volume of 797.528 million shares with a traded value of Rs 42.219 billion, against 950.146 million shares valuing Rs 54.075 billion in the previous session. Market capitalization declined to Rs 19.457 trillion from Rs 19.498 trillion a day earlier.
Out of 485 active companies in the ready market, 179 advanced, 260 declined, while 46 remained unchanged.
K-Electric Limited topped the volume chart with 116.033 million shares, followed by Bank Makramah with 24.747 million shares and Crescent Star Insurance with 23.054 million shares.
The top gainers included Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited, which rose by Rs984.02 to close at Rs11,211.27, and PIA Holding Company Limited-B, increasing by Rs135.50 to settle at Rs23,135.50.
On the losing side, Hoechst Pakistan Limited declined by Rs185.15 to close at Rs4,227.66, while Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited fell by Rs143.00 to close at Rs28,855.00.
In the futures market, turnover stood at 166.355 million shares with a traded value of Rs9.492 billion, compared to 166.285 million shares worth Rs12.548 billion in the previous session.
Out of 318 futures-market companies, 83 recorded gains, 231 declined, while four remained unchanged.
Among futures contracts, KEL-Dec led with 24.612 million shares, followed by PIAHCLA-Dec with 12.719 million shares and PACE-Dec with 10.100 million shares.
In the futures market, the top gainers included LUCK-Jan, which rose by Rs16.01 to close at Rs510.00, and LUCK-Dec, increasing by Rs15.16 to settle at Rs 501.49. On the losing side, GHNI-DecB declined by Rs16.53 to close at Rs818.47, while SAZEW-DecB fell by Rs15.67 to close at Rs1,635.00.
