PSX closes marginally higher, gains 84 points

ISLAMABAD, Sep 19 (APP): The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) gained 83.90 points on Friday, showing a nominal increase of 0.05 percent, closing at 158,037.37 points against 157,953.47 points on the previous trading day.

A total of 2,047,812,574 shares valuing Rs.69.273 billion were traded during the day as compared to 1,959,100,058 shares valuing Rs.56.931 billion on the last trading day, showing an increase in both volume and value.

As many as 486 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 189 recorded gains and 266 sustained losses, whereas the share prices of 31 remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were Cnergyico PK with 170,300,468 shares at Rs.8.12 per share, followed by Bank of PunjabXD with 167,285,267 million shares at Rs.26.26 per share, and WorldCall Telecom with 163,000,808 shares at Rs.1.68 per share.

The top gainers were Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited, which increased by Rs.210.74 to close at Rs.32,650.00, and Supernet Technologies Limited, which rose by Rs.90.09 to close at Rs.1,075.02.

The major losers were PIA Holding Company Limited, which declined by Rs.769.47 to close at Rs.24,369.53, and Khyber Textile Mills, which fell by Rs.105.42 to close at Rs.2,342.82.

In the futures market, 405,170,000 shares were traded as compared to 358,784,000 shares on the previous trading day, while the total value stood at Rs.18.168 billion against Rs.12.717 billion previously.
