PSW Integrates with Hong Kong’s ValidAP to boost trusted digital trade

ISLAMABAD, Sep 28 (APP): Pakistan has taken another step towards trusted digital trade with the operationalization of Pakistan Single Window’s (PSW) integration with ValidAP, a blockchain-based digital document verification platform developed and hosted by the Customs and Excise Department of Hong Kong, China.

The integration, which became operational on 25 September 2026, enables electronic trade documents issued through PSW to be independently verified for authenticity and integrity using cryptographic technology, without requiring the underlying document or its sensitive information to be transmitted to or stored on the verification platform, said a news release.

The initiative follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Pakistan Customs and the Customs and Excise Department of Hong Kong on 18 May 2026, formalizing Pakistan Customs’ participation in ValidAP. Pakistan is the first country to join the platform, and the integration marks Pakistan’s first implementation of ValidAP-based digital document verification.
ValidAP uses cryptographic technology to create a unique digital fingerprint, or “hash”, of an electronic trade document. This enables authorities to verify that a document is genuine and has not been altered, without the document itself or its sensitive information being transmitted or stored on the verification platform.

Pakistan’s participation in ValidAP also connects its digital trade infrastructure with an emerging regional approach to trusted electronic document verification.

For Pakistan, the integration represents a further step towards a digital trade environment in which documents can be issued electronically, verified digitally and trusted across borders. It can help reduce reliance on paper-based verification and support faster and more secure processing of international trade documentation.

The successful operationalization of ValidAP demonstrates how cooperation between Customs administrations and digital trade platforms can create practical mechanisms for building trust across borders while maintaining the security and confidentiality of trade information.
