PRA issues special guidelines for aesthetic clinics, spas, beauty salons

LAHORE, Aug 31 (APP): Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has issued special guidelines for aesthetic clinics, spas, beauty salons and beauty parlours, making it mandatory for relevant businesses in Punjab to prominently display the guidelines at their cash counters.

The PRA spokesperson told media here Monday that a fiver percent Punjab Sales Tax is applicable on services provided by aesthetic clinics, spa, beauty parlours, salons establishments as well as skin and laser treatment service providers.

The spokesperson added that service providers engaged in the relevant businesses are required to be registered with the Punjab Revenue Authority. Failure to obtain registration may result in strict legal action.

Consumers have been advised to carefully check the details of the Punjab Sales Tax charged along with the service charges while availing themselves of relevant services.

He emphasized that charging consumers more than the applicable tax rate for any sector is an offence under the law.

Consumers have also been advised that temporary or handwritten receipts are not permissible and that they should always demand a proper digital receipt for the services purchased.

He said that if a business refuses to accept card or digital payments, consumers may lodge complaints through the PRA Sahulat App or PRA’s social media platforms.

The spokesperson stated that the tax collected from consumers is not the income of the business; rather, it is a tax collected on behalf of the government and is required to be deposited with the government in accordance with the law.
