PRA discuss revenue from services sector

LAHORE, Apr 07 (APP): Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra said on Tuesday that government’s top priority is to enhance tax revenues without burdening the business community.
He was presiding over a meeting to review measures for enhancing revenue from the services sector. During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on expanding the tax net and bringing additional service sectors into taxation. Directions were issued to ensure registration of unregistered businesses and to promote e-filing and e-payment system on a priority basis.
Various proposals were reviewed to make the tax system more transparent and user-friendly through digitalization and automation.
The meeting was also briefed on awareness campaigns aimed at promoting tax compliance among the public. It was decided to soon launch a dedicated WhatsApp number at PRA to facilitate easy and prompt redressal of taxpayer complaints.
The Chairman emphasized that effective monitoring, inspection and improved enforcement are essential to curb tax evasion. He reiterated that increasing revenue without placing an unnecessary burden on the business community remains a top priority of the Government of Punjab. He further stated that efforts to enhance revenue through data integration with government departments will be expanded.
Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and Enforcement Officers from all districts participated in the meeting via video link.
