Pharma traders lauded federal budget

RAWALPINDI, Jun 12 (APP): Traders associated with the pharmaceutical retail sector in Rawalpindi have welcomed the federal budget 2026-27, particularly appreciating relief measures related to medicines and taxation.
Talking to APP, Faizan Malik said that the government’s decision to abolish Federal Excise Duty (FED) on medicines, especially those used for the treatment of cancer and other serious diseases, was a highly commendable step.
He said that the move would help reduce the financial burden on patients and improve access to essential medicines. He added that such relief measures would also support pharmacy traders by increasing affordability and demand.
He further highlighted that the government has not imposed any additional taxes on medicines in the budget was a positive development for both traders and the public.
Faizan Malik noted that stability in taxation policies for the pharmaceutical sector was essential to ensure uninterrupted supply and reasonable pricing of medicines.
Another trader in the same field, Khurram, also appreciated the budget measures and said that the relief provided to the health sector reflected a pro-public approach.
He said that the removal of FED on critical medicines would directly benefit patients suffering from life-threatening diseases and ease pressure on healthcare expenses.
Khurram emphasised that continued support for the pharmaceutical retail sector, along with consistent and transparent policies, would strengthen the healthcare supply chain.
