ISLAMABAD, Mar 17 (APP):Chief Executive Officer Pakistan Furniture Council Mian Kashif Ashfaq Thursday facilitated the Prime Minister Imran Khan for getting adopted a landmark epoch making historic resolution introduced by Pakistan in the United Nations General Assembly designating March 15 as International day to combat Islamophobia.
In a statement he said It was a great achievement and commendable service to entire Muslim Ummah.
He said credit went to the dynamic and sagacious leadership of Imran Khan who exercised his sphere of wisdom based influence and got persuaded the UNSC.
He said the resolution was sponsored by 57 members of the OIC, and eight other countries, including China and Russia.
He said under its terms, the resolution strongly deplored all acts of violence against persons on the basis of their religion or belief and such acts directed against their places of worship, as well as all attacks on and in religious places, sites and shrines that were in violation of international law.
He said first time in history OIC just voice against the rising tide of Islamophobia had been heard at international level and Pakistan image was elevated when “The UN finally recognised the grave challenge confronting the world: of Islamophobia, respect for religious symbols & practices & of curtailing systematic hate speech & discrimination against Muslims,”.
“Next challenge is to ensure implementation of this landmark resolution,” Mian Kashif added.
He said at all international platforms, including the United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister Imran Khan has been calling the world to act against Islamophobia and asking the world leaders to act collectively to counter the growing phenomenon in non-Muslim states.
He said the prime minister also recently appreciated Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “emphatic statement” that the freedom of speech could not be a pretext to abuse the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon him).
Mian Kashif also said that another feather in the cap of Pakistan is holding forthcoming meeting of foreign ministers of OIC in Islamabad which he added a great honour for a country as entire Muslim Ummah consider Pakistan as citadel of Islam which is harbinger of durable peace in the world he concluded.
