Petroleum imports up by 5.76% to $16.862 bln in FY2025

ISLAMABAD, Jul 30 (APP):The imports of the overall petroleum group witnessed an increase of 5.76 percent during the fiscal year (2025-26) as compared to the previous year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.

The total imports of the petroleum group during July-June (2025-26) stood at $ 16,862.742 million against the imports of $ 15,943.726 million during the same months of last year.

Among petroleum commodities, the import of petroleum products increased by 7.05 percent, from $ 5,966.060 million last year to $ 6,386.458 million during the period under review year.

Likewise, the imports of Petroleum Crude increased by 31.58 percent from $ 5,446.205 million last year to $ 7,165.937 million while the import of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) went up by 3.21 per cent during the period under review and stood at $ 1,088.778 million as compared to $ 1,054.937 million in the corresponding period in 2024-25.

On the other hand, the import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) decreased by 36.10 percent from $ 3,476.159 million to $ 2,221.183 million.

The imports of all other petroleum group products went up by 5.88 percent and were recorded at $0.386 million as against $0.365 million.

Meanwhile, on a year-on-year basis, the petroleum group imports witnessed an increase of 45.55 percent and went up to $ 1,909.516 million during the month of June 2026 as compared to imports of $ 1,311.918 million in May 2025.

On a month-on-month basis, the petroleum imports into the country increased by 32.98 percent during June 2026, as compared to the imports of $ 1,435.930 million in May 2025, according to the data.
