LAHORE, Apr 08 (APP): Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Faheemur Rehman Saigol Wednesday appreciated the wise leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, calling their diplomacy and balanced foreign policy commendable.
He said Pakistan’s active diplomatic efforts played a key role in reducing rising tensions between Iran and the United States, and restoring peace and stability in the region.
In a media statement issued here, he said that a conflict between Iran and the US could have escalated into a major regional crisis, affecting the global economy, energy supply, and international trade. Pakistan’s timely diplomatic initiatives, however, paved the way for dialogue and helped reduce tensions.
He added that Pakistan’s peace-focused foreign policy highlights the country as a responsible global player. This development shows that Pakistan is playing a constructive role in promoting regional stability and peace. By reducing the risk of war, global markets can regain confidence, oil prices can stabilize, and trade activities can improve – benefiting developing economies, including Pakistan.
Saigol also emphasized the need for the government to focus on economic policies. He urged that instead of limiting business activity during these challenging economic times, it should be encouraged. He specifically called for a review of the government’s decision to close markets at 8 pm, as reduced business hours are affecting trade.
He said that while energy conservation is important, business realities must not be ignored. A balanced approach between energy saving and economic activity is essential to keep the economy moving.
The LCCI president said that with the federal budget approaching, limiting business activities could negatively affect tax collection. Slower business activity could make it harder for the government to meet revenue targets, so policies need to be adjusted to support ongoing commerce. He urged the government to consult with the business community to create policies that meet energy-saving goals without harming economic growth.
Saigol praised the leadership of the Prime Minister and the armed forces for promoting regional peace, protecting national interests, and enhancing Pakistan’s positive global image. He assured that business community will continue to fully cooperate with the government to support economic stability and development.
