LAHORE, Mar 04 (APP):Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Atif Ikram Sheikh has stated that the establishment of the Punjab Agriculture, Food & Drug Authority (PAFDA) was the need of the hour to ensure transparent monitoring of agricultural products, food, and medicines.
He added that the authority will emerge as a center of excellence in the region and will promote quality, transparency, and trust.
He expressed these views during the visit of PAFDA Director General Dr. Tallat Nasir Pasha here at FPCCI Regional Office on Wednesday.
On this occasion, FPCCI Regional Chairman and Vice President Zaki Aijaz said that establishment of Punjab Agriculture, Food & Drug Authority has raised many hopes for the industry—particularly in terms of providing the business community with access to world-class testing facilities at the local level. He further said that he would like to appreciate the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who is taking very positive steps for industry and the business community.
Zaki Aijaz added that the primary objective of today’s meeting was to reduce the existing gap between industry and regulatory authorities, remove hurdles related to testing and certification during exports, and effectively streamline these processes, so as to promote a culture of ease of doing business in Punjab.
On the occasion, PAFDA Director General Dr. Tallat Nasir Pasha stated that Punjab Agriculture, Food & Drug Authority is a provincial flagship project with positive impacts at the national level. He informed the business community that by 2035, PAFDA will become a globally recognized authority in the field of conformance and compliance assessment, providing key services across food, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, feed, and cosmetics. This roadmap will position Punjab as a leader within Pakistan, enable global outreach for testing, and set a strong example of quality and innovation in testing and conformance certification infrastructure.
