MULTAN, Feb 03 (APP): Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 5.5 million bales have reached ginning factories country wide till Jan 31, 2026, registering a marginal percentage increase of 0.62 per cent compared to corresponding period of last year.
According to statistics shared with media by Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) here Tuesday, out of the total arrival figure, the seed cotton pressed into bales was calculated at over 5.5 million or exactly 5,510,393 bales, leaving over 34000 bales in the form of Phutti.
Punjab share in the total arrivals was calculated at over 2.6 million bales, down by 2.74 per cent compared to last year while ginneries in Sindh received over 2.9 million bales recording a 3.86 per cent increase compared to last year.
Out of the total, over 5.1 million bales have been sold out including over
4.9 million bought by textile millers, and 177,600 by exporters, leaving an unsold stock of 380,321 bales.
District Sanghar in Sindh topped the list with highest arrival figure of 1.2 million
while Bahawalnagar in Punjab stood second with 734,614 bales and Bahawalpur 411,246 bales.
Total 100 factories remained operational during the period including 84 in Punjab and 16 in Sindh.
