Minister Mujtaba reviews development projects

LAHORE, Nov 21 (APP):Punjab Minister for Finance Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman reviewed progress on the proposed development projects around the Railway Station, Misri Shah, and the adjoining three-kilometre stretch here at LDA Headquarters on Friday.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister stated that these projects in the Railway Station and Misri Shah areas are being undertaken on the special instructions of  Punjab Chief Minister, under a sustainable development model.
He said, “For the first time, mega development projects of this scale are being launched in and around the Railway Station and Misri Shah. These initiatives will not only modernize urban infrastructure but will also contribute to increased business activity at the local level.” He directed that daily routines and economic activities of residents and traders be facilitated during the construction phase to ensure continuity of commercial operations.
Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said, Punjab government prioritizes the development of underdeveloped and neglected areas, and these projects reflect the continuation of that policy. He emphasized that under the sustainable development model, a comprehensive strategy has been adopted to eliminate waste, encroachments, and traffic congestion in inner Lahore, which will significantly improve the overall quality of life for citizens.
On this occasion, LDA DG Tahir Farooq briefed the meeting on the ongoing integrated urban development work in the Railway Station, Azadi Chowk, Data Darbar, Bhatti Chowk, and Misri Shah areas. The proposed redesign plan for the remodeling of Data Darbar and Bhatti Chowk was also presented, which includes spacious walkways, improved footpaths, parking areas, and upgraded civic facilities.
LDA Vice Chairman Mian Marghoob Ahmad said that these development projects will enhance civic amenities in Lahore’s key commercial and residential localities. He added that the development work in Misri Shah would be executed while keeping in view traffic flow and the needs of the local population.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer LDA Israr Saeed, Chief Engineer TEPA Iqrar Hussain, officers from NESPAK, LDA, TEPA, as well as traders from Misri Shah Circular Road and other local stakeholders. The Finance Minister directed all departments to ensure inter-departmental coordination, quality work, and timely completion of the projects.
