LAHORE, Oct 31 (APP)- Federal Minister for Defence Production & Science and Technology Rana Tanvir Hussain on Monday stressed the need for increasing export and following the international standards to get appropriate place in international market.
He was addressing a seminar on “Standards Build Trust” arranged by the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) here at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Monday.
DG PSQCA Engr Muhammad Khalid Siddiq, Director Punjab Consumer Protection Council Aamir Zamir, LCCI president Abdul Basit, Director PSQCA, Dr Rizwan, Deputy Director Fida Hussain, Nadeem Chohan and a large number of experts and representative of business community also spoke on the occasion.
Rana Tanvir said that technology was linked with any country’s development and demand-oriented research was the need of hour, adding the PSQCA and other research departments should remain in contact with the business community to improve the level of items.
He urged the PSQCA officers to make no compromise on the quality and focus on daily use items especially on dairy products, mineral water and ghee.
He said the PSQCA had sealed 69 factories involved in preparing sub-standard items during last four months and the field officers had also been directed to check the brands and multi-national companies as well.
He said that setting the quality standards was the mandate of the federal government and provincial governments should implement these levels.
He said the Pakistan Standard and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) and other departments of his ministry, were sealing the factories involved in preparing sub-standard items without any pressure.
He said that all heads of the departments working under the science and technology ministry had been deputed purely on merit to ensure the quality and standards.
