Miftah opitimistic about positive results of amnesty scheme

ISLAMABAD, Apr 27 (APP):Federal Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail Friday expressed the hope that the tax amnesty scheme announced by the government would have positive impact on the economy.
The scheme, he said, would help broaden the tax net as more people would pay taxes.
Talking to a private news channel, he said due to the policies of the present government, the foreign reserves would increase by end of June.
Commenting on the sixth budget announced by him on behalf of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government, he said besides 10 percent adhoc relief, the house rent of the government employees had also been raised by 50 percent, which would provide them relief.
To a question about the PML-N’s popularity in Karachi, he said his party wanted to work for the welfare of the people of mega city. He would contest the general election from a Karachi constituency if he was given the party ticket, he added.
Replying to another question, he said the government was working to strengthen the Pakistani rupee.
