Malaysia, Pak agrees to enhance bilateral economic, trade Cooperation

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 07 (APP): Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has met to the  Malaysian deputy minister for Investment, trade and industry YB Liew Chin Tong to enhance bilateral economic and trade Cooperation.
YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister for Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia (MITI), called on Mr Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for Commerce of Pakistan, on the sidelines of Pakistan-Malaysia Business and Investment Conference in Kuala Lumpur, said a release issued here on Tuesday.
The Minister for Commerce was accompanying Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for his state visit to Malaysia from October 5-7.
During the meeting, the Minister for Commerce and the Deputy Minister for Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) exchanged views on Pakistan-Malaysia bilateral economic and trade relations.
They discussed opportunities to strengthen partnerships across various sectors including information technology (IT), artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, automotive, aviation, agro-food and halal trade, among others.
The two leaders also witnessed signing of eleven (10) B2B MoUs between Pakistani and Malaysian companies in agro-food, export of gelatine and seafood.
They also reflected positively on the productive and meaningful discussions held between Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, emphasizing the shared vision for enhanced cooperation.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic ties, focusing on key sectors including manufacturing, technology and green energy.
Discussions also included potential ventures to boost Pakistan’s export capabilities and Malaysia’s investments in key industries to foster mutual growth.
The meeting underscored the importance of accelerating the implementation and renewal of Malaysia-Pakistan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (MPCEPA).
