KPTMA elects Sikandar Kuli Khattak as Chairman, Assad Saifullah Vice Chairman

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textile Mills Association (KPTMA), at its annual general meeting and elections for 2026-27 held here on Wednesday at KPTMA House, Tehkal Payan, Peshawar, unanimously elected Sikandar Kuli Khan Khattak as Chairman and unanimously re-elected Barrister Assad Saifullah Khan, outgoing Chairman of KPTMA, as Vice Chairman, with the full consent of all member mills.

PESHAWAR, Oct 07 (APP): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textile Mills Association (KPTMA), at its annual general meeting and elections for 2026-27 held here on Wednesday at KPTMA House, Tehkal Payan, Peshawar, unanimously elected Sikandar Kuli Khan Khattak as Chairman and unanimously re-elected Barrister Assad Saifullah Khan, outgoing Chairman of KPTMA, as Vice Chairman, with the full consent of all member mills.
The meeting expressed grave concern over the continued closure and curtailment of textile and spinning mills in KP, stating that the industry is rapidly losing its viability due to high energy costs, taxation, regulatory pressures and difficult operating conditions.
Members warned that the deteriorating situation is not only threatening the survival of the remaining mills but is also causing unemployment and adversely affecting workers, farmers, transporters, traders and other allied businesses, while reducing investment, exports and economic activity in the province.
The meeting urged the Federal and Provincial Governments to take immediate and practical measures to save the struggling textile industry, prevent further closures and facilitate the reopening and revival of mills that have already ceased operations. KPTMA also called for urgent and meaningful engagement with the association to address the sector’s longstanding challenges and restore its competitiveness.
The members said that KP’s textile industry is already “struggling for survival” and warned that without timely government intervention, the province could lose a vital part of its industrial base and productive capacity.
The meeting was attended by leading representatives of member mills, including Afan Aziz, Muhammad Kamran Shah, Abid Hussain, Muhammad Ayub, Kaleem Aslam, Syed Aftab Hayat, Malik Abdul Muqeet, Ms. Jahanaara Sajjad,  Liaqat Ali Khan, Abbas Ali and representatives of M/s Rafaqat Babar & Company, External Auditors. Barrister Assad Saifullah Khan,  Abid Hussain and Ms. Jahanara Sajjad participated through video link due to the prevailing road blockage situation.
KPTMA reaffirmed its readiness to work with the Federal and Provincial Governments and other stakeholders to protect employment, revive closed mills and safeguard the remaining industrial base of KP.
