KP Excise Dept tightens enforcement against property tax defaulters

PESHAWAR, Jun 10 (APP): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has continued its enforcement campaign against property tax defaulters, sealing multiple commercial units and properties in Peshawar and Mansehra during ongoing operations aimed at recovering outstanding government revenues.
According to details received from the department, enforcement action was carried out against major property tax defaulters on University Road, Peshawar, on the directives of Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO-III) Property Tax Peshawar, Zahid Iqbal Khan.
Several commercial units, including outlets of prominent brands, were sealed after their owners failed to clear outstanding property tax liabilities despite being served repeated notices.
Meanwhile, Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO-VI) Property Tax Peshawar, Ijaz Anwar, supervised a series of field operations in different parts of the provincial capital as part of the department’s ongoing recovery drive. Accompanied by field staff, he visited various localities, met property owners and urged them to fulfill their tax obligations by paying outstanding dues without further delay.
During the inspections, several properties with long-pending tax liabilities were identified. Legal action was initiated against persistent defaulters, resulting in the sealing of multiple units. In addition, final notices were issued to a number of property owners, warning them to clear their dues within the prescribed timeframe or face legal action under the relevant provisions of the law.
Similar enforcement measures were undertaken in Mansehra, where several properties were sealed over non-payment of property tax. Departmental teams carried out field inspections and initiated legal proceedings to recover outstanding government revenues from defaulting property owners.
Officials said that property tax constitutes an important source of provincial revenue, contributing to the financing of public services, infrastructure development and other government initiatives.
They emphasized that timely payment of taxes is a civic responsibility and urged property owners to ensure compliance with tax laws to avoid penalties and enforcement actions.
The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparent and effective tax administration across the province.
It further stated that operations against property tax defaulters will continue without discrimination and that all available legal measures will be employed to safeguard public revenue and improve tax compliance.
