FAISALABAD, Nov 05 (APP): Chairman Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) of Pakistan and former Ambassador Farrukh Amil said that Incorporating Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) into the national education curriculum can play a transformative role in harnessing the creative potential of Pakistan’s youth.
He was addressing members of business community during a meeting at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI).
He said that intellectual property had become a cornerstone of modern innovation-driven economies and it is imperative that Pakistani students and entrepreneurs are made aware of its value from an early stage.
“By introducing IPR education within the national curriculum, we can cultivate a culture of creativity, protection and profitability”, he said, noting that IPO registration enables companies to secure their trademarks and protect their brand identity against misuse.
The IPO Chairman stressed the need for stronger institutional collaboration between government, academia and private sector to promote awareness about intellectual property and ensure entrepreneurs are well-equipped to compete in the global marketplace.
“When creative ideas are properly protected, these not only contribute to individual prosperity but also fuel national economic growth”, he added.
In his welcome address, FCCI President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh said that intellectual property protection is not only vital today but will be indispensable in the future of modern business.
He called for the launch of an organized awareness campaign to educate entrepreneurs about the practical benefits of IPR. “The chamber is fully prepared to play a leading role in promoting IPO’s objectives among the business community”, he added.
He also urged the authorities to establish facilities for trademark, copyright and patent registration within Faisalabad for enabling local businesses to access services conveniently.
“If immediate establishment is not feasible, a dedicated IPO help desk at FCCI can serve as a practical alternative to assist traders and industrialists in registration matters”, he added.
Representatives from various business organizations and industrial associations operating in Faisalabad participated in the meeting which reflected strong interest from the private sector in intellectual property protection.
The participants also viewed a documentary film highlighting IPO’s initiatives and achievements.
Later, Senior Vice President FCCI Naveed Akram Sheikh presented vote of thanks while FCCI President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh presented a commemorative collar pin, a souvenir and gifts to IPO Chairman Farrukh Amil on the Chamber’s Golden Jubilee anniversary.
Farrukh Amil also reciprocated an IPO shield to FCCI President as a gesture of mutual appreciation and institutional partnership.
