ISLAMABAD, Oct 24 (APP):The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Friday appreciated the government’s decision to allocate additional power supply to the industrial and agricultural sectors, terming it a landmark step towards revitalizing Pakistan’s productive economy.
In a statement, Acting President ICCI Tahir Ayub and Vice President Muhammad Irfan Chaudhry have commended the initiative of the government regarding the reduction of electricity tariff for agricultural and industrial sectors.
They said that the provision of electricity for agricultural consumers from Rs38 to Rs 22.98 per unit, and the industrial tariff for additional units from Rs34 to Rs22.98 per unit will help to enhance the productivity of these two sectors, said a press release.
They noted that this substantial reduction will significantly lower the average cost of doing business, enabling industries and farmers to enhance their productivity and competitiveness.
Tahir Ayub said that agriculture and industry are the twin pillars of Pakistan’s economy, providing employment, ensuring food security, and contributing to exports.
He added that reducing energy costs, one of the major input expenses, will not only ease financial pressure on these sectors but also attract fresh investments and encourage industrial expansion.
Vice President Muhammad Irfan Chaudhry stated that the measure would help stimulate industrial growth, create new jobs, and strengthen the supply chain of value-added products.
He appreciated the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises for economic revival, expressing hope that continued reforms in the energy and taxation sectors would further support sustainable growth.
Both ICCI leaders lauded the forward-looking initiative by saying that such pro-business measures should continue to restore investor confidence, boost exports, and accelerate Pakistan’s journey toward economic stability and self-reliance.
