ISLAMABAD, Jan 1 (APP):The Consumer Price Index (CPI) based inflation stood at 5.6 percent on a year-on-year (YoY) basis in December 2025, lower than the 6.1 percent recorded in November 2025, but higher than 4.1 percent registered in December 2024, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported Thursday.
According to latest PBS data, the CPI inflation Urban, increased by5.8%on year-on-year basis in December 2025 as compared to an increase of 6.1%in the previous month and 4.4% in December 2024. On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.4% in December 2025 as compared to an increase of 0.5% in the previous month and a decrease of 0.1% in December 2024.
CPI inflation Rural, increased by5.4% YoY basis in December 2025 as compared to an increase of 6.3% in the previous month and 3.6% in December 2024. On month-on-month (MoM) basis, it decreased by 0.6% in December 2025 as compared to an increase of 0.2%in the previous month and an increase of 0.3% in December 2024.
Meanwhile, the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) inflation on YoY basis increased by2.5% in December 2025 as compared to an increase of 4.2%in the previous month and in December 2024 each. On MoM basis, it decreased by0.8% in December2025 as compared to an increase of 0.4%in a month earlier and an increase of 0.8% in December 2024.
The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation on YoY basis increased by 0.6% in December2025 as compared to an increase of 1.1% in the previous month and an increase of 1.9% in December2024. On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.9%in December 2025as compared to a decrease of 0.2% in the previous month and a decrease of 0.4% in December 2024.
The Core inflation measured by non-food non-energy (NFNE) urban increased by6.9% on (YoY) basis in December 2025 as compared to 6.6% of the previous month and 8.1% in December 2024. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.5% in December 2025 as compared to 0.3% in previous month and an increase of 0.2% in the corresponding month of last year (December 2024).
Core inflation measured by non-food non-energy (NFNE) rural increased by 8.1% on (YoY) basis in December 2025 compared to 8.2% in previous month and an increase of 10.7% in December 2024. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.6% in December 2025 as compared to0.5% in the previous month and an increase of 0.6% in corresponding month of last year i.e. December2024.
