FPCCI lauds govt for presenting pro-business, growth-oriented budget

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Saturday congratulated the government for presenting pro business, growth oriented and positive budget for the fiscal year 2026-27.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 13 (APP): The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Saturday congratulated the government for presenting pro business, growth oriented and positive budget for the fiscal year 2026-27.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister Muhammad Shebaz Sharif, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said that Federation welcomed the federal budget featuring several measures to promote economic growth, investment, exports, documentation and taxpayer facilitation.
“On my own behalf, as well as on behalf of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, which
represents Pakistan’s business, industry, and trade community, I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation and
congratulations to you, the Finance Minister and your entire economic team for the presentation of the positive Federal Budget for 2026-27″ he added.
He said that the FPCCI also recognized the prime minister ‘s achievement for being the first premier to successfully present five consecutive federal budgets, which demonstrated continuity, consistent policies, and dedication to economic management in a difficult global and regional context.
“In particular, we appreciate the relief extended to exporters of merchandise in terms of bank markup rates at 4.5 percent and withdrawal of Super Tax.
He said the FPCCI appreciated the extension in FTR for IT exports, withdrawal of Capital Value Tax on foreign assets, rationalization of withholding taxes under Sections 236C, 236K, removal of 7E, reduction of Super Tax under Section 4C, introduction of a Fixed Tax Asaan Scheme for traders, reduction in withholding tax on international transactions on bank cards, custom duty removal
on the import of agricultural machinery, and meaningful tax relief provided to the salaried class.
He also appreciated the government’s efforts towards tariff rationalization, digitalization of the economy, tax administration and reforms aimed
at enhancing transparency in FBR to curtail harassment of the taxpayers, he added.
He said that keeping in view the limited fiscal space available with the government, the aforementioned steps were in the right direction, which would transform the economy to achieve desirable outcomes in the coming years.
Atif Ikram said that FPCCI has been collaborating with economic team, comprising Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Bilal Azhar Kayani, Jam Kamal Khan, Haroon Akhtar Khan, the Chairman
Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and Dr. Najeeb Memon, to evolve a viable, growth-oriented Federal Budget.
The FPCCI also appreciate the prime minister’s deep patronage and interacting with the business community in this process, he added.
He also thanked Almighty Allah for blessing Pakistan with an unparalleled victory during the May 2025 war with India referred to as ‘Bunyan um Marsoos’.
Moreover, he said that Pakistan’s sincere mediation role in the US-Iran conflict has earned the country respect and recognition under prime minister’s leadership and the valiant devotion of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Given these international accomplishments, he assured that the business community of Pakistan and FPCCI would collaborate with the prime minister to translate these successes into a more robust national economy.
