PESHAWAR, Sep 26 (APP):The Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Region and Department of Forest have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for acceleration of tree plantation and joint efforts against deforestation.
In this connection, a MoU signing ceremony was held at the office of the Chief Conservator (Forest), Fazal Elahi the other day, said a press release issued here on Tuesday.
Besides, Regional Coordinator FPCCI KP Region, Sartaj Ahmad Khan, Deputy Conservator (Forest), Amjad Samad, Director (HR) Forest Development, Hazrat Mir, Director Business Facilitation KP Board of Investment & Trade (BoIT), Iqbal Wazir and other authorities of the Department of Forests also attended the ceremony.
On this occasion, the officials of FPCCI KP Region and Department of Forest, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expressed their resolve to jointly work for the eradication of growing pollution, massive cutting of trees and further strengthening of the tree plantation drive in the province.
Speaking on the occasion, Regional Coordinator FPCCI, Sartaj Ahmad Khan said that keeping in view the climate change and prevailing situation, the federation has decided in larger public interest to join the practical struggle and utilise energies and resources in a better manner.
He said that beside, bringing the growing population under control, we should also have to strictly avoid the wastage of water and massive cutting of forest to prevent the devastation of floods.
In his speech, the Chief Conservator (Forest), Fazal Elahi expressed gratitude to the officials of FPCCI, BoIT and other organizations and said that joint efforts with private sector organizations result in the accomplishment of even those targets, which usually looks impossible.
He said that keeping earth and environment clean and green is need of the hour and we all should have to support each other in this regard as it is the matter of the salvation of our future generations.
