Fish, meat exports witness growth in first two months of FY27
ISLAMABAD, Sep 23 (APP):Exports of fish and fish preparations grew by 3.23 percent during the first two months of the fiscal year 2026-27 as compared to the corresponding period of last year, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
According to the PBS data, Pakistan exported 24,662 metric tons of fish and fish products worth $47.791 million during July-August 2026, compared with 22,433 metric tons valued at $46.295 million during the same period of the previous year.
Meanwhile, exports of meat and meat preparations increased by 22.53 percent during the period under review.
The country exported 17,653 metric tons of meat and meat products worth $94.147 million during July-August 2026, compared with 17,177 metric tons valued at $76.835 million during the corresponding period of last year, the PBS data showed.
Food group exports from the country during the first two months of the current financial year grew by 7.67 per cent as compared to exports of the corresponding period of the last year. During the period from July-August 2026, food commodities worth $833.023 million were exported as compared to the exports of $773.644 million in the same period of the last year.
On the other hand, food group imports into the country during the first two months of the current financial year grew by 2.23 per cent as against the imports of the same period of the last year.
During the period from July to August 2026, different food commodities costing $1.503 billion were imported as compared to imports of $1.470 billion in the same period of the last year.
