FCCI along with media to make strenuous efforts for redressal of problems: FCCI President

FAISALABAD, Oct 08 (APP):Newly elected President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) Farooq Yousaf Sheikh has said that media is an important stakeholder of economy along with business community and government.
“We would not only make concerted efforts for the resolution of problems faced by the industry and trade sectors but also work collectively for the uplift of local infrastructure,” he added.
In his maiden interaction with the media as President FCCI on Wednesday, he said that FCCI is the apex trade body of this region and it also enhanced its responsibilities. “We would make collaborative efforts to solve national and local level issues and in this connection our efforts would be visible to all”, he added.
Regarding exports, he said that FCCI would make efforts to explore new non-traditional markets with a focus on Africa.
He said that the exporters are fully prepared to achieve the target of 100 billion dollars export. However, the government should also take practical steps for political and economic stability in addition to formulating long term strategy and cutting down the production cost, he added.
He mentioned recent visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Malaysia and said that agreement to export 200 million dollars meat would play a key role in enhancing overall exports. “However, we should also focus on diversification, tax reforms and competitive energy rates,” he added.
He assured that he would work to expedite colonization of industrial estates under FIEDMC in addition to improve infrastructure in Faisalabad Dry Port.
He said, “Our educated youth should be equipped with the latest skills so that they could start smart business and e-commerce.”
He appreciated allocation of 30 electro buses for Faisalabad by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.
He also appreciated the appointment new Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar and said, “He is a visionary bureaucrat and we would work with him for betterment of the city.”
He said that no doubt the government is making serious efforts to trim the cost of doing business. In this connection FCCI would also extend its support to government and government institutions, he added.
About CSR, he said, “FCCI has distributed ration bags among the flood-affectees as we should not pin entire hopes with the government but we would also contribute our role to mitigate sufferings of the people.”
He also responded to the questions asked by the media persons and said, “I am fully focused and the people would witness by themselves what we are doing for the betterment of business community and the city.”
Mr. Naveed Akram Sheikh Senior Vice President and Engineer Asim Munir Vice President FCCI were also present during this meeting.
