FAISALABAD, Jun 10 (APP):Director General (DG) Environment Protection Department Imran Hamid Sheikh said that two anti-smog guns would soon be deployed in pollution hotspots at Faisalabad to combat worsening environmental pollution and improve air quality.
His made this assurance in response to a demand raised by Vice President (VP) Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) Engineer Asim Munir during a ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director General Environment said that arrival of the anti-smog guns would strengthen ongoing efforts to curb environmental pollution and help mitigate the adverse effects of smog on public health and urban environment.
He directed Deputy Director Environment Protection Department Faisalabad Usman Azhar to accelerate anti-pollution initiatives and ensure improved results through closer coordination with the business community and other stakeholders.
Imran Hamid Sheikh said that the anti-smog guns would be operated through Faisalabad Chamber and deployed in the areas experiencing higher levels of pollution.
He explained that the equipment would not remain permanently stationed at a single location; rather, it would be shifted periodically to different parts of the city to maximize its effectiveness and ensure broader environmental benefits.
He emphasized that addressing environmental challenges requires collective efforts from government departments, industrial stakeholders and citizens alike. The Environment Protection Department is committed to implement practical measures for reducing pollution and creating a healthier environment for residents, he added.
FCCI Vice President Engineer Asim Munir welcomed the decision and thanked the Director General Environment for responding positively to the chamber’s proposal.
He said that the business community fully recognizes the importance of environmental protection and remains committed to support the initiatives that contribute to cleaner air and improved living conditions.
The chamber would continue to work closely with government institutions to protect collective public interests and promote measures that support sustainable urban development and environmental well-being, he added.
