FAISALABAD, Sep 15 (APP):Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh said that Faisalabad’s exporters particularly those opening up markets in Africa despite challenging business conditions are playing a frontline role in strengthening the national economy and deserve the full support of the business community and government.
Addressing a delegation of confectionery manufacturers and exporters during a meeting, he said that exporters continuing their businesses and generating foreign exchange under difficult circumstances were the “economic front-line warriors” who deserved appreciation and support from the entire business community.
He said that confectionery products from Faisalabad were being exported to African countries, which was fully aligned with the federal government’s “Look Africa” policy.
He therefore urged the government to accord priority to resolve the issues confronting exporters associated with the confectionery sector so that their export potential could be further expanded.
FCCI President stressed the need for greater unity among members of the business community and said that collective efforts and a united voice were imperative for effectively conveying business-related concerns to the government and securing their resolution.
He proposed the establishment of a high-level committee at Faisalabad level, with representation from the FCCI, to address the issues confronting industries and facilitate coordination between businesses and relevant government departments.
He emphasized that a facilitative approach towards industries was imperative to protect exports, sustain employment and enable businesses to contribute more effectively to economic growth.
Senior Vice President FCCI Naveed Akram Sheikh was also present in the meeting.
