EV policy crucial to reduce dependence on oil: SAPM Haroon

ISLAMABAD, Jun 16 (APP):Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan on Monday emphasized that the National EV Policy is a crucial step toward reducing dependence on oil and ensuring environmental sustainability.
The minister held a meeting with Mosharraf Zaidi to discuss the Electric Vehicle (EV) policy.
The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of Industries and Production Saif Anjum, CEO of the Engineering Development Board Khuda Bakhsh, and Additional Secretary Asif Saeed Lughmani, said a news release.
During the meeting, key discussions were held on the approval of the National Electric Vehicle Policy, its promotion at the international level, and strategies to attract investment in the EV sector.
Haroon Akhtar said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif envisioned increasing the market share of electric vehicles — including two, three, and four-wheelers — to 30% by the year 2030.
Mosharraf Zaidi highlighted the importance of introducing the Electric Vehicle Policy on global scale, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision.
He expressed his support for promoting Pakistan’s EV potential internationally.
