PBM disburses Rs 3132.39 mln from July to March 2016

ISLAMABAD, Jun 2 (APP): Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) has disbursed a sum of Rs 3132.39 million to provide solace to the poor segments of society from July 2015 to March 2016.
According to Economic Survey 2015-16, PBM is significantly contributing toward poverty alleviation through its various poorest of the poor focused services programmes and providing assistance to destitute, widow, orphan, invalid, infirm and other needy persons, as per eligibility criteria approved by Bait-ul-Mal Board.
An amount of Rs 1456.93 million has been disbursed on providing individual financial assistance to the deserving people from July 2015 to March, 2016.
PBM has also provided financial assistance to 1500 thalassemia patients in last three years.
Rs 58.67 million has been disbursed among special friends of PBM during the nine months of current financial year. Rs.25,000/-are being given to each family annually under PBM special friend’s programme.
Yet Rs 261.94 million has been utilized on 34 Pakistan Sweet Homes, in which 3430 children including 100 girls are being provided free residence facilities.
Rs 4.85 million has been disbursed to provide family like atmosphere to senior citizens in PBM’s great homes.
PBM plans to establish one Great Home at each Provincial/ Regional Headquarters. Two pilot Great Homes are functional at Lahore and Karachi for old age citizen.
PBM spent Rs 68.33 million in last nine months on equipping poor children with education under its Child Support Programme.
Rs 408.84 million had been spent on rehabilitating child labour in National Centers for Rehabilitation of Child Labour.
PBM has spent Rs 173.48 million for providing free training to widow, orphans and poor girls in its 147 vocational training centres.
PBM has spent Rs. 26.41 million for providing grant in aid to registered non government organizations (NGOs) for institutional rehabilitation of the poor and deserving persons.
