ISLAMABAD, Oct 18 (APP):Customs Enforcement Peshawar on Saturday successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of foreign liquor through a luxury vehicle which was also confiscated.
The value of the seized liquor has estimated at approximately Rs 2.4 million, while the value of the smuggling vehicle is estimated at Rs 8 million, bringing the total estimated value of the seized goods to Rs 10.4 million, said a news release issued here Saturday.
The recovered liquor and the vehicle used for smuggling were seized under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969.
On the information provided by Collector Customs Enforcement Peshawar and on the directions of Deputy Collector Customs, Dera Ismail Khan-II, the staff of Aman Meela Check Post successfully foiled the attempt.
At around 12:30 p.m, the Customs staff intercepted a Toyota Hilux Revo vehicle bearing registration number ASC-406, approaching the check post. Upon thorough examination, a substantial quantity of foreign-origin liquor was recovered.
