Commerce Minister, AU Chairperson discuss deepening ties at ‘Made in Pakistan’ Exhibition

ISLAMABAD, Oct 17 (APP): Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan on Friday met with African Union (AU) Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf on the sidelines of the “Made in Pakistan” exhibition, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening trade and development cooperation with Africa under its “Look Africa Policy.”
He also discussed the potential for trilateral cooperation involving Pakistan, African Union member states, and third-party stakeholders. Key areas of interest included food security, agriculture, agri-tech, information technology, and human resource development, said a news release
Both sides agreed on the importance of developing a roadmap for future collaboration, aimed at identifying concrete steps and priority areas to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The Chairperson appreciated Pakistan’s initiatives under the Look Africa Policy and acknowledged the country’s active role at international platforms, including the United Nations.
He welcomed the prospect of enhanced cooperation, particularly in food security and agriculture. He also expressed interest in signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with Pakistan in areas such as agri-tech collaboration, human resource development, and peacekeeping support within the framework of African Union missions.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen ties and work towards sustainable and inclusive development across Africa and Pakistan through continued dialogue and partnerships.
