The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) has mobilised Rs 40 billion through Islamic financial investment bonds, reflecting its efforts to expand Shariah-compliant investment opportunities and promote the Islamic economy in the country.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP):The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) has mobilised Rs 40 billion through Islamic financial investment bonds, reflecting its efforts to expand Shariah-compliant investment opportunities and promote the Islamic economy in the country.
The institution has set a target of Rs 85 billion for mobilising funds through Islamic finance bonds during the fiscal year 2026-27, as part of its strategy to broaden the range of interest-free investment products and attract more investors.
A senior CDNS official told APP that the institution had mobilised Rs 61 billion through Islamic investment products during the first 11 months of FY2025-26, surpassing its annual target of Rs 55 billion.
The official said the encouraging response from investors demonstrated growing interest in Shariah-compliant financial instruments, prompting the institution to place greater emphasis on Islamic finance and introduce measures to expand its outreach.
The CDNS has been working to strengthen its Islamic investment portfolio by offering products designed to meet the financial requirements of investors seeking investment opportunities in accordance with Islamic principles.
Islamic investment bonds and Shariah-compliant savings certificates have emerged as important components of this portfolio, providing alternative investment avenues while helping channel domestic savings into productive economic activities.
According to official figures, the CDNS mobilised Rs 24 billion through Islamic investment products during FY2024-25, while nearly Rs75 billion was raised through Islamic bonds in FY2023-24.
The official said the institution was pursuing further reforms to improve access to Islamic financial products and make investment procedures more convenient for individuals and other investors.
These initiatives include digital transformation, improved customer services and the introduction of new savings instruments to facilitate wider participation in Islamic investment schemes.
The CDNS aims to make Shariah-compliant investment options more accessible, particularly to investors who prefer financial products structured in accordance with Islamic principles.
The official expressed optimism that the expansion of Islamic financial products would help mobilise domestic savings, diversify investment opportunities and support the development of Pakistan’s Islamic financial sector.
The initiative is also expected to contribute to broader financial inclusion by encouraging more people to participate in formal savings and investment channels.
With the new mobilisation target of Rs85 billion for FY2026-27, the CDNS intends to build on the performance of previous years and strengthen the role of Islamic finance in the country’s financial system.
The continued expansion of Shariah-compliant investment products is expected to support the growth of Pakistan’s Islamic economy while contributing to savings mobilisation and sustainable economic development.
