Business community must adopt eco-friendly practices to safeguard environment

ISLAMABAD, Jun 05 (APP): President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mehmood, has called for greater environmental responsibility and collective action to tackle the growing challenges of climate change, pollution and environmental degradation.
Talking to visiting delegations of businessmen at the Chamber House here Friday on the occasion of World Environment Day, he said that a clean and healthy environment was essential for sustainable economic growth, public health and the well-being of future generations.
He noted that environmental issues had become a global concern and required coordinated efforts from governments, businesses and the society at large.
The ICCI President observed that Pakistan was among the countries most vulnerable to climate change and environmental disasters. He stressed the need for adopting environmentally friendly business practices, promoting renewable energy, conserving natural resources, and reducing industrial and commercial waste.
He emphasized that the business community had a vital role to play in protecting the environment by embracing green technologies, improving energy efficiency and supporting sustainable development initiatives.
He added that economic progress and environmental protection must go hand in hand to ensure long-term national prosperity.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood reaffirmed the ICCI’s commitment to creating awareness among the business community regarding environmental conservation and supporting policies aimed at promoting a greener and cleaner Pakistan.
He urged all stakeholders, including policymakers, businesses, educational institutions and citizens, to join hands in preserving natural resources and combating environmental challenges.
