Aurangzeb outlines export reforms, investment opportunities at BoFA symposium

ISLAMABAD, Oct 15 (APP): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb on Thursday highlighted Pakistan’s economic stabilization, structural reforms and efforts to promote sustainable, export-led growth at the Bank of America (BoFA) Small Talks Symposium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The minister participated in the symposium on the sidelines of the World Bank Group–IMF Annual Meetings 2026, where discussions focused on Pakistan’s economic outlook and reform agenda, a news release said here.
Aurangzeb highlighted Pakistan’s renewed access to international markets and efforts to replace costly, short-term debt with longer-maturity financing.
He also outlined improvements in external sector indicators, stronger foreign exchange reserves and positive net international reserves under the IMF definition.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to completing the IMF programme and maintaining policy credibility beyond its conclusion.
The discussions also covered tax administration reforms, broadening the tax base, privatization and growing investor interest in Pakistan.
Stressing the need for sustainable, export-led growth, the finance minister highlighted tariff reforms, competitive inputs and targeted financing as key measures to strengthen the country’s export potential.
He also outlined measures to address regional conflicts, energy-price pressures and climate shocks while strengthening trade and investment partnerships.
