ISLAMABAD, Dec 28 (APP): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director for Pakistan, Emma Fan, on Sunday, expressed deep grief over the passing of former Director General of ADB and former federal minister for finance and ex-governor of the State Bank of Pakistan Dr Shamshad Akhtar, paying tribute to her outstanding contributions to policy reforms and development in the region.
In a condolence message posted on X, Emma Fan said they were deeply saddened by the demise of Dr Shamshad Akhtar, describing her as a dedicated leader whose significant role in advancing policy reforms and development initiatives had left a lasting impact.
She extended heartfelt condolences to Dr Shamshad Akhtar’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time, adding that her legacy would be remembered and cherished at the Asian Development Bank.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, former Director General of the ADB and former Pakistani finance minister and governor of the central bank. Dr. Shamshad was a dedicated leader whose significant contributions to policy reforms and development in the region have left a lasting impact.
