10 more roads, 10 main markets to be upgraded: Commissioner

FAISALABAD, Jan 06 (APP):Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar has said that 10 more roads and 10 major markets of the city will be upgraded soon and physical work on this project will commence from Thursday (January 08, 2026).
Presiding over a meeting here on Tuesday, he reviewed progress on the ongoing development works including repair and rehabilitation of 40 roads where streetlights have been restored, kerbstones painted, lane marking completed and beautification and other civic facilities provided.
He directed the Municipal Corporation, Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA), Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA) and Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) to initiate comprehensive planning and immediately start work on road rehabilitation, park beautification, improvement of the sewerage system, cleanliness, activation of streetlights, painting of kerbstones and lane marking on newly selected roads and markets.
He instructed all concerned departments to remain fully mobilized with their machinery and workforce to ensure timely completion of the tasks, emphasizing that citizens must witness visible and tangible improvements.
Raja Jahangir Anwar also assigned the chief officer of Faisalabad Waste Management Company to conduct a citywide “Operation Clean-Up” on Saturday (January 10, 2026) and directed the company to utilize all available resources to clear old garbage dumps from across the city.
He said that, in accordance with the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, municipal services would be provided beyond public expectations as it is top priority of the government. No effort would be spared to ensure improved civic facilities and a cleaner, better-managed Faisalabad, he added.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir, Additional Commissioners, Additional Deputy Commissioner General, Assistant Commissioner City and officers of relevant departments were also present in the meeting.
