Minister Mujtaba to present Punjab budget tomorrow

LAHORE, Jun 15 (APP):Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman will present the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026–27 before the Punjab Assembly tomorrow (Tuesday). Prior to its presentation, the proposed financial document will be approved by the Provincial Cabinet.
During the budget session, the Finance Minister will brief the distinguished members of the Assembly on the budget proposals, fiscal priorities, and key features of the budget in detail.
The budget 2026–27 will be the third budget of the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, reflecting a strong commitment to pro-people policies and a vision of sustainable economic development.
Punjab Finance Minister, Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, stated that the upcoming budget includes concrete and effective measures to increase provincial revenues, broaden the tax net, and further strengthen financial discipline in order to enhance the province’s fiscal self-reliance.
He added that the Punjab Government will accord special priority to the promotion of business, industry, and investment in the next fiscal year, while comprehensive measures will be taken to generate new employment opportunities and accelerate economic activity.
The Finance Minister further said that education, health, and social protection will remain the top priorities of the Punjab Government, and all major social protection programmes will continue with full vigour to provide maximum relief to vulnerable and deserving segments of society.
He also stated that budgetary resources have been directly linked to public welfare, provision of basic amenities, and improvement in the standard of living of the people, ensuring that the benefits of development reach all segments of society.
