ISLAMABAD, June 3 (APP): The government has earmarked Rs 11.55 billion to execute 59 on-going and new schemes for the Interior Division under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2016-17 with particular emphasis on security and establishment of model police stations in the Federal Capital.
Some Rs 1,300 million had been earmarked for security projects relating to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) while Rs 100 million is allocated for the construction of a Judicial Complex and Rs 200 million for a model prison in Islamabad.
According to budget documents, funds have been
earmarked for various development schemes of attached departments of
Ministry of Interior, including Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Immigration
and Passport (I&P), National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Civil Armed Forces (CAFs), Frontier Constabulary (FC), Pakistan Coast Guards and Pakistan Rangers.
The Interior Division plans to execute four new schemes in ICT for which Rs 525 million has been allocated. The prominent scheme among them is setting up model police stations for which Rs 400 million has been earmarked.
Moreover, Rs 366 million has been allocated for executing 13 on-going schemes for ICT. The main schemes include the construction of a bridge over Korang River at the cost of Rs 103 million and Islamabad General Hospital at Tarlai for Rs 100 million, besides land revenue record management system in rural areas of ICT for which Rs 40 million has been provided in the PSDP.
An allocation of Rs 400 millon has been made for setting up Headquarters
of National Forensic Science Agency and Islamabad Lab,
Rs 1.1 billion for machine readable passport projects, Rs 200 million
for provision of security infrastructure in Malakand, Swat and other conflict
areas and over Rs 1.5 billion for Special Security Division Wing (Chinese Security) Pakistan Rangers.
The up-gradation of Division’s E-office application has also been given due importance with allocation of over Rs 39 million for its modernization and improving its working.
