Shoaib directs to make mines rescue system more effective to deal with any sudden accident

Balochistan Minister for Finance and Minerals Mir Shoaib Noshirwani on Tuesday directed to make the mines rescue system more effective to deal with any sudden accident or emergency situation. He said this while talking to a delegation of Pakistan Mines Labor Federation as the delegation held an important meeting with the Minister.

QUETTA, Aug 18 (APP): Balochistan Minister for Finance and Minerals Mir Shoaib Noshirwani on Tuesday directed to make the mines rescue system more effective to deal with any sudden accident or emergency situation.
He said this while talking to a delegation of Pakistan Mines Labor Federation as the delegation held an important meeting with the Minister.
  In the meetin,  a detailed discussion was held on the problems, concerns and various demands  being faced by miners across Balochistan. The delegation apprised the provincial minister about the difficulties being faced by mine laborers, welfare, medical facilities, safety measures and other basic issues.
On this occasion, Provincial Minister for Finance and Minerals Mir Shoaib Noshirwani assured that all legitimate problems of miners would be resolved on priority basis and practical steps would be taken in this regard in collaboration with the relevant authorities of the Mines Department and the Finance Department.
The Provincial Minister for Finance and Minerals expressed deep anger over the absence of medical staff from duty in mines hospitals established in Kachi and other districts and directed the Mines Department to keep all mines hospitals functional.
He also directed to regularly send the daily attendance report of hospitals and medical staff to the provincial minister’s office.
He also issued orders to keep all ambulances active and present near the mine sites at all times so that in case of any accident or emergency, immediate medical assistance and timely rescue facilities could be provided to the injured miners.
  Mir Shoaib Noshirwani clarified that no negligence would be tolerated in the welfare, health and safety measures of the mine laborers. He also directed the concerned authorities to ensure continuous monitoring of these measures. Important progress was also made in the meeting regarding the Mines Welfare Fund.
  It was decided to prepare a comprehensive summary regarding the release of grants and funds of the Workers Welfare Fund in consultation with the Finance Department and send it to the Chief Minister of Balochistan for approval.
He said that more expert and modernly trained rescue personnel would be recruited on contract basis to safely and immediately extract trapped or injured miners from mines.
  The provincial minister said that to enhance the professional capabilities of the rescue personnel, they would also be provided with high-level training on scientific and modern lines in the country’s top and standard training institutions, so that precious human lives could be saved in time in case of mine accidents.
Provincial Minister for Finance and Minerals Mir Shoaib Noshirwani expressed his determination that all available resources would be utilized for the rights, welfare and protection of lives and property of miners and that safety and welfare measures in the mines sector to be made more effective.
