QUETTA, Aug 19 (APP):Making the ongoing anti-drug measures more effective under Chief Minister Balochistan’s “Drug Free Quetta, A Model City” initiative.
On special directive of the Director General Social Welfare (SW) Department ( Balochistan, the administration of the Social Welfare Department took action against drug addicts in different areas of Quetta city, especially Circular Road and adjacent areas.
During the action, several drug addicts and homeless people living on the roads and unsafe places were rescued and shifted to Detoxification and Rehabilitation Complex (DRC), Quetta for treatment and rehabilitation.
The main objective of this initiative is to rid Quetta city of the scourge of drugs, shift drug addicts from the roads and unsafe environments to safe places and provide them with free detoxification, medical treatment, psychological and social counseling and rehabilitation facilities.
The official source said that this program is not limited to just rescuing drug addicts, but its main objective is to make them an active part of the society again as a healthy, dignified and responsible citizen after treatment and rehabilitation.
He said that in this regard, special attention is also being paid to rehabilitation, counseling, skills, social integration and public awareness against the harmful effects of drugs.
Social Welfare Department Balochistan, in accordance with the vision of the Chief Minister Balochistan, is continuing its efforts to bring drug addicts back to a new, healthy and dignified life, considering them not just criminals but people deserving of treatment, care, support and rehabilitation.
