QUETTA, Aug 19 (APP):Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa has reaffirmed that modernizing Balochistan’s infrastructure is a top priority of the provincial government, stressing that the department’s effective and timely performance is crucial for the province’s overall progress and prosperity.
Chairing a review meeting on the progress of ongoing development projects and departmental performance, Minister Saleem Khosa highlighted that the delivery of quality public facilities depends on the efficiency of the Communications and Works Department.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Communications and Works Babar Khan, Chief Engineer Federal Projects, zonal chief engineers, newly appointed Chief Engineer Sibi Zone Mir Muhammad Khosa, Chief Engineer Makran-Rakhshan Zone Jehanzeb Panizai, and superintending engineers.
Secretary Babar Khan briefed the participants on the department’s overall performance, ongoing projects, and administrative matters. He noted that project progress is being regularly monitored to promptly address technical or administrative hurdles. He added that the recent induction of 192 sub-engineers through the Balochistan Public Service Commission has significantly enhanced the department’s capacity and efficiency.
Minister Saleem Khosa acknowledged that while development projects are progressing satisfactorily, there is a need to accelerate work in the public interest to ensure timely completion and provision of facilities. He praised the transparent and effective utilization of development funds during the last fiscal year as a major achievement of the department.
Directing all chief engineers to conduct regular visits to their respective zones, Saleem Khosa emphasized strict monitoring and submission of visit reports to evaluate project pace and quality. He stressed that mega development projects must be completed within stipulated timelines and warned that no compromise on construction standards will be tolerated.
He further stated that providing modern, sustainable, and high-quality facilities whether related to roads or government buildings is the fundamental responsibility of the Communications and Works Department. “This responsibility must be fulfilled with honesty, transparency, and professionalism,” he added.
