QUETTA, Aug 21 (APP):The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan has issued a weather advisory, warning of rain, wind, and thundershowers in several districts of the province as monsoon currents continue to penetrate the upper and central parts of the country.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Islamabad and the Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) Quetta, a westerly wave is expected to enter the upper regions on August 21, 2026, bringing rainfall to Musakhail, Barkhan, Zhob, Sherani, Kalat, Surab, Khuzdar, and adjoining areas between the evening of August 21 and August 22.
The advisory cautioned that strong windstorms and thunderstorms may damage weak structures, including electricity poles, billboards, and solar panels, while heavy downpours could trigger flash floods in hill torrents. Isolated lightning strikes are also possible during the forecast period. Farmers have been advised to plan agricultural activities in line with the latest weather updates, while the public has been urged to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains.
PDMA directed all concerned authorities to remain on high alert and take precautionary measures to protect lives and property.
