PDMA Balochistan reviews monsoon preparedness, calls for coordinated emergency response

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan, under the chairmanship of Director Naveed Ahmed Sheikh, convened a key consultative meeting to review monsoon season preparedness and strategies to tackle potential emergencies. 

QUETTA, Jun 04 (APP): The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan, under the chairmanship of Director Naveed Ahmed Sheikh, convened a key consultative meeting to review monsoon season preparedness and strategies to tackle potential emergencies.
Senior officials from relevant departments, rescue agencies, and stakeholders attended the session.
The meeting assessed possible flood risks during the upcoming monsoon rains, potential damages in urban and rural areas, emergency relief operations, coordination mechanisms, and rapid response procedures. Departments briefed participants on their readiness, available resources, and contingency planning.
Addressing the meeting, Director PDMA Naveed Ahmed Sheikh stressed that effective coordination and harmony among all institutions is essential to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season. He directed departments to keep machinery, staff, and emergency supplies ready at all times to ensure swift action in case of any untoward incident.
He further emphasized the identification of sensitive and low-lying areas, improvement of drainage systems, public awareness campaigns, and activation of emergency centers. It was decided that continuous communication among institutions will be maintained throughout the season, and a comprehensive strategy will be implemented to deal with any emergency situation.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to utilize all available resources to protect citizens and minimize the impact of natural disasters. PDMA Balochistan has consistently highlighted the importance of monsoon preparedness and inter-agency coordination, with the latest planning forming part of this ongoing effort.
