QUETTA, Oct 12 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Monday said that the situations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan as well as the roles played by two provincial governments could not be compared.
He noted that the framers of the Constitution had incorporated relevant articles with the prevailing circumstances in mind, the Federation has acted in accordance with the constitution and has not taken any unconstitutional step, we support this move.
He expressed these views while speaking about the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a session of the Balochistan Assembly.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti remarked that while comparisons are being drawn between the situations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, there is a distinct difference between the two provinces regarding how they tackle terrorism and discharge governmental responsibilities.
Let all of Pakistan hear this, there is no comparison between the situations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, nor between the roles of the two provincial governments, he said.
The CM mentioned that the move to declare an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was prompted not merely by the law-and-order situation, but by the failure of the provincial government to fulfill its role.
He said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, funds allocated for security were used to create a social media team, whereas effectively combating terrorism requires the government to provide support to security agencies, enact effective legislation, and help shape the narrative.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that a government must accept its responsibility in the war against terrorism, in Balochistan, the government admit responsibility for this war, regarding it as its own, whereas this is not the case in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He remarked that, given the prevailing international climate, there is talk of targeting the federation, a matter that warrants serious consideration in the current situation.
The Chief Minister noted that leaders and workers from all political parties have fallen victim to terrorism and have been martyred.
He pointed out that not even a single firecracker has been thrown at one specific party to date, raising questions about this situation.
He remarked that while God forbid, no one wishes for an attack, the question remains, what kind of magic wand do they possess?
Mir Bugti mentioned that during his visit to Sui yesterday, hand grenades and crackers were detonated in the distance.
He stated that the situation would have been different had the Balochistan government not viewed this fight against terrorism as its own battle, however, the provincial government is confronting this challenge, regarding it as its own responsibility.
The Chief Minister added that it is also a significant question as to who was advocating for the return of the killers of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Bashir Bilour, and Mian Iftikhar Hussain’s son.
He affirmed that all members of the Balochistan Assembly stand against terrorism and support the security forces.
