QUETTA, Mar 31 (APP):Gwadar is poised for a major transformation as officials confirmed that the city’s flagship Central Business District (CBD) project is expected to launch soon, marking a milestone in its journey toward becoming a regional economic powerhouse.
At a meeting chaired by Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Director General Moin-ur-Rehman Khan, senior officials including Chief Engineer Haji Syed Muhammad and Director of Town Planning Shahid Ali reviewed progress, strategic importance, and the anticipated launch timeline.
Officials revealed that approximately 2,585 acres of land are being allocated by the provincial government for the mega project.
Once finalized, the CBD will formally launch, accelerating economic, commercial, tourism, and real estate activities in Gwadar, said a news release.
Moin-ur-Rehman Khan described the CBD as a key component of the Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan, envisioned as the city’s future “downtown.”
Developed in the West Bay area, the district will feature corporate offices, hotels, apartments, shopping centers, and conference facilities.
Cultural attractions including a museum, theater, library, expo center, Gwadar Tower, marina park, and seaside resorts.
Urban mobility solutions such as traffic management systems, pedestrian walkways, cycling routes, and advanced public transport.
Moin-ur-Rehman Khan emphasized Gwadar’s growing global relevance due to its strategic location, secure port, and geographic advantage, noting that the CBD launch will boost investor confidence worldwide.
The project will rely on land sales, public-private partnerships (PPP), and joint ventures (JV) to attract investment. Development will be phased over eight years, beginning with essential infrastructure.
Moin-ur-Rehman Khan reaffirmed that the CBD will position Gwadar as a global investment destination, generate employment, stimulate economic activity, and contribute to sustainable urban growth.
In a separate meeting, Moin-ur-Rehman Khan reviewed strategies for GDA’s financial independence, focusing on revenue streams, fee collection, and compliance with the Smart Port City Master Plan.
Proposals for new housing schemes and tourism initiatives were also discussed.
