QUETTA, Jul 22 (APP): Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Wednesday said that that concrete practical steps would be taken to control the increasing incidents of street crimes in the suburbs of Quetta, public safety is the first responsibility of the government and no negligence to be tolerated in terms of protecting the lives and property of our people.
He expressed these views while talking to a delegation led by Allama Maqsood Ali Domki, the central leader of Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan.
The Governor said that increasing street crimes, unannounced load shedding, water shortage, poor sanitation and especially the growing menace of drugs in Quetta and its suburbs require immediate and coordinated measures to prevent them for interest of peace.
He also directed the Commissioner and Administrator Metropolitan Corporation to visit the suburbs of Quetta city regularly because good governance begins with listening to the voices of ordinary citizens.
The Governor mentioned that Quetta is not just a city but is also the administrative, political, educational and commercial center of the entire province, solving the problems of Quetta is in many ways equivalent to solving the problems of half of Balochistan.
In response to a question, Governor Mandokhel said that water is a basic necessity of life, and urged the concerned authorities to ensure that every household has access to clean drinking water without unnecessary difficulties.
“Similarly, unannounced load shedding of electricity has become a source of frustration for citizens, traders, students and small businessmen. The concerned authorities should provide timely information whenever there is restoration or unavoidable shutdown”, he explained.
He said that a clean city reflects responsible governance and a healthy society, environmental cleanliness is directly related to public health and the quality of urban life.
Governor Mandokhel said that the growing threat of drugs among the youth is equally dangerous, drug addiction weakens the society, we have to adopt a comprehensive strategy to protect our young generation from this threat.
He said that restoring Quetta’s historical beauty, cleanliness, peace, and dignity is not just an administrative responsibility, but a collective mission that requires the cooperation of government institutions, civil society, the business community, and every responsible citizen.
