Governor congratulates Pashtun nation on celebrations of Pashtun Culture Day

QUETTA, Sep 23 (APP): Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Wednesday congratulated the entire Pashtun nation, especially the youth, on the occasion of Pashtun Culture Day.

In his message on the occasion of Pashtun Culture Day, he said that they should gain light from their history, identity from their culture, strength from knowledge and hope from their future, we have to create a society where commitment to our cultural roots and harmony with the requirements of the modern world are not contradictory to each other but rather complement each other.

He said that the journey of human civilization is actually the story of continuous creative, intellectual and social development of man,  the roots of the word culture are associated with the Latin word cultura, whose basic meaning is related to the cultivation and fertility of the land.

He said that over time, this concept spread to the construction and development of the human mind, society and civilization, man has continuously developed his livelihood, knowledge, arts, economy and social institutions and has traveled the journey from culture to civilization.

“Today, information technology and modern means of communication have brought the world closer to each other and accelerated the pace of evolution of global civilization many times over”, he said.

The Governor mentioned that culture is a symbol of the identity, collective memory and historical continuity of any nation, Pashtun Culture Day provides us with an opportunity to renew our resolve to pass on the positive values of our traditions to new generations and adapt them to the requirements of the modern era.

He stated that the history of the Pashtun nation is a treasure trove of ancient and glorious traditions, while the Pashtun language is one of the important and major languages of the region, Pashtun society still has a unique cultural identity due to its charming traditional attire, tasty cuisine, traditional dance, judicial system of Jirga, generosity, philanthropy and hospitality.

He noted that the beauty of Pashtun culture also lies in its collective temperament, dignity and mutual respect saying that the shawl is a symbol of dignity and identity in Pashtun society, so the shawl represents a large and important part of our population. Therefore, our cultural development and social progress could only be complete when men and women of the society move forward with equal respect, opportunities and responsibility.

 He said that Shimla and Shawal, together, complete the picture of a balanced and developed society adding that Pashtun Culture Day is not just a day to remember our culture but also a day of renewal of commitment.

He said that we must pledge that we would protect our language, literature, history and cultural heritage as well as move forward in the fields of education, science, technology, research and modern knowledge, our new generation should be proud of its identity and develop the ability to cope with the modern demands of the world, this would be our real success.
